Jesse Jackson Shows Why He is On the "B" Team in the Black Community

Jesse_jacksonWhat was he thinking??? While still miked up after an interview on FOX News, Jesse Jackson remarked that he didn't appreciate Obama talking down to black people, and that he'd like to cut off his nuts.

Even if his microphone had been shut off, did he think he was going to find sympathy from anyone at FOX News? Has this man gone off the deep end?

As my friends over at Jack and Jill Politics have said before, this is one of the reasons why black folks are so sick of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. They're just out of step with the rest of the world. Their shenanigans more than erase any good they accomplish on behalf of the black community. The stark cold truth is, perception is reality. The perception is that Jesse Jackson is past his prime representing the black community. So it is reality.

"Black Folks" What kind of euphemism is that? I find that offensive.

It's pc police like 'Obama for President' who have made it nearly impossible to have an honest discussion about anything related to race in this country.

I'm with Claire. Jesse and Al Sharpton are so badly stuck in the 60's mentality that they have lost all credibility. Luckily new thinking, along the lines of Bill Cosby and Obama, is taking hold and giving real hope to the African-American community.

It's also hard not to think that Obama's tough-love approach may been hitting a bit too close to home for philandering Jesse.

What is wrong with black folks? I'd say white folks too. All "folks" means is people. I don't get it.

If you find the term "Black Folks" offensive, then you must be offended by Jesse Jackson too. I have heard him use that term many times.

Both Jackson and Obama are right, and wrong by omission. Omission of the point the other is making. Obama wasn't talking down to African American's or African American males. They do have a problem of out-of-wedlock children that continues to vex that community.

But Jackson is also correct to look at the underlying socio-economic issues that lay at the heart of this dysfunction. The problem for Jackson is that he fails to seriously consider what Obama (and to a more harsh extent) what Bill Cosby has said about taking on more personal responsibility.

From Jackson's limited view, I can see how we was upset at Obama, but the problem is his. His view is too limited when it comes to honestly addressing the problem. On the other hand, Obama needs to discuss poverty and continued socioeconomic ills in the black community and inner-cities. He has not done that.
