
I am thrilled for the gays and lesbians in California. The California Supreme Court finally came down with its ruling on the controversial gay marriage issue.
I think it's a good sign for our country and the start of a new trend. As in so many other situations, California is on the forefront of social change in this country. For example, California was the first state to ban smoking in public places and the first to require higher mileage and lower emission standards for vehicles.
Californians take controversial and revolutionary positions on tough moral issues and typically, the other states usually follow suit. Detractors are still waiting for California to slide into the ocean because of its "lack of morality," but not me. I wish we would follow California's lead more often.
