Donkey Drama! I've been watching the hearing live most of the afternoon, and one thing's for sure...democratic committee meetings sure haven't changed much. The meetings are characterized by grandstanding and puffery, each individual member throwing out their own credentials and point of view in long, drawn out statements within statements. It's hard to remember what the question on the table is when it is couched in so much pastry. Jeez.
Only the Florida delegation's fate has been decided as of yet. They decided on a 27-0 (and one abstention, what the point of that?) vote to allow all of Florida's delegates to be seated, but to give each of them the power of only half a vote. That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life. It sends the signal that it's more important to have a full television shot of screaming Florida delegates than it is to have the Florida democrats' voices fully heard at the convention. Either that or it would have been hell to pick the lucky delegates, who all would love a vacation to Denver in August. Sigh.
