Attention Obamicans: Stop Acting Like Children

HacI'm sitting here blogging from my favorite Des Moines, Iowa breakfast/free wi fi place, The Gateway Market. I ran into a couple of good friends of mine who are Obama supporters. I reminded them that Obama people need to quit being so negative against Sen. Hillary Clinton and start showing some respect.

When I "confronted" him, the guy was speechless. He had that smug "but, but, we're right and she's wrong" look that many Obamicans have. His wife looked at me sheepishly and said, "I plan to be a party girl." Good for her.

Here's the deal, Democrats. We're all on the same train together. One car of the train is going be the lead car going into the convention. We don't know if that leader will be Obama or Clinton yet. Whoever it is, we'll all just have to suck it up and get on board. Would you rather be on the "straight talk express" with John McCain? No, I didn't think you were that dumb.

Ok then, everybody breathe. Practice, in...out...in...out. Good job.

Each of our democratic candidates have their own strengths and weaknesses that they bring to the race. One is not better than the other, just different. Breathe in, breathe out.

Repeat after me.

I (state your name), will be supporting the nominee of my party, whether it is Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. I don't want to see my country go through four or eight more years of a republican presidency. I know what kind of permanent damage this would cause my country.

After the nominee is chosen, I will not be apathetic and sulk if my candidate is not chosen. I will organize my precinct, donate money and help get out the vote. I will register new voters and drive people to the polls.

When the race is over, I will fully support the new democratic president.

Breathe in, breathe out.

It was great to see you on Saturday Claire. I'm certainly going to tow the party line and vote for the Dem. nominee come November and I specifically shared that with you. Telling an Obama supporter to lay off Hillary, now that's the pot calling the kettle black. I'm disappointed that you characterized our discussion that way.

I just had to laugh out loud at you comment about Obama supporters attacking Clinton. That is the biggest joke. Clinton has been brutal and very damaging to Obama in her attacks as Obama will be the Democratic candidate. Through it all Obama has been cool, calm and collected unlike Clinton's shrill rantings. Obama continues to inspire and impress while Clinton has become nothing short of pathetic. I personally can't wait for both the Clintons to just go away.

Yeah, dealing with the Clintons isn't all that fun is it Obamicans?

I'd have some sympathy for ya'll if it weren't for the fact that those who are now whining the loudest were the most stalwart in their defense of the far, far worse things that the Clinton's said about and did to many pretty decent Republicans, in an effort to conceal what you all now know to have been the very real crimes Bill and Hill committed.

The fact that so many prominent Ds have abandoned Hill, even as the Drama was getting hammered in Pennsylvania and in church by Father Jeremiah and having his worst month of the campaign only proves a Sporerism:

The Dems may be crazy libs but they are mostly good guys (& gals) who might publicly deny the Clinton's guilt but would run like jack rabbits from the Gruesome Twosome if any even remotely viable alternative presented itself.

We over at TRS are proud of you Obamicans for supporting the Boy Scout Obama, who also is the wackiest of misguided libs against whom to campaign, (yes, my first campaign was Nixon McGovern-more on that at TRS) against the Perons, which certainly takes some courage.

Well, a poll not too long ago indicated a higher percentage of Hillary supporters were unwilling to vote for Obama than vice versa. What do you say to those folks? Or is their reluctance somehow justified?

This primary race has clearly uncovered the fruits of our party's decades-long pandering on identity politics. We are reaping what we have sowed for a long time. How ironic that Obama, who is the first prominent and successful D politician to move beyond the 60's fights, might be paying the price for it.

Also, I believe Obama's inability to close the deal after 11 straight blow-outs indicates an incovenient truth about us D's. Do you really think a white male (say Edwards) could have survived those 11 losses? Or do you think a woman of color could have survived it? I doubt it. There would have been no reliable to base to save those kinds of candidates. The fact that Hillary is a white woman was clearly the decisive factor, with help from her great name recognition for sure.
