I've noticed a few of anti-Hillary groups on Facebook lately, and the mainstream media is playing right into these haters' hands. I guess I can understand how some men could be intimidated by Hillary Clinton. After all, she is one of the most recognized and powerful women in the world. What I don't get is the women who join these groups. Don't they realize that they are falling for the oldest ruse in the world? Thanks to Feministing for pointing it out.
The traditional ideal of a woman is someone who stays home, takes care of the family, doesn't talk about politics or other important issues, and doesn't speak her mind. Tom Watson points out the hypocrisy here. Even the Washington Post has gotten into the act.
Whether Hillary makes it to the White House or not is a moot point. Is this how we are going to treat female nominees for president in this country? I have to ask myself, if a woman as accomplished and knowledgable as Hillary gets treated like this, won't that have a chilling effect on other women considering a run in the future?
