Imagine the upcoming election turning out much like the George W. Bush debacle in 2000. The candidates are Hillary Clinton and John McCain. Hillary Clinton, having barely wrested her party's nomination due to the deciding vote of her superior super-delegate count, loses the 2008 election due to the influence of the Electoral College. A bitter and further divided electorate loses all faith in the electoral process and dives further into a funk. Sound like Armageddon? This scenario is not at all out of the question. The question is...Do electoral colleges and super-delegates have a legitimate place in a modern democracy, or are they and ancient relic from the past, back in the days where a small minority of noblemen or royalty ruled? The electoral college is a more time-tested mechanism, and many states require that their presidential electors represent the majority of the popular vote in that state. Super-delegates are relatively new to the system, and democrats and Republicans vary widely in the number of super-delegates who may vote. Usually, superdelegates and the electoral college are not factors in selecting the president. But in the span of eight years, we may have tested both systems, much to the consternation of the populace. It's time to get rid of these archaic systems, and return the full force of the majority vote to whom it belongs: We the People of the United States.

I agree. I don't know how many people I have heard that have indicated that voting is a waste of time because "we the people" votes do not count. I think people are more knowledgeable about campaigns and elections and the government and should be given the right to vote and not have delegates contradict that right!!! Hilary should have been the nominee by popular vote -however the delegates controlled the nomination. I am and I know a lot of other people are now thinking that if they vote they may cross-over to the other party. The delegates in my opinion screwed up the election.
