Democratic and Liberal political analysis and commentary

Democrats are in an unusual situation in Michigan, where Hillary Clinton will be the only democratic nominee appearing on the ballot, though she has agreed not to campaign there. Obama and Edwards both signed pledges designed to keep states from upsetting the primary applecart by moving the dates for their primaries up to compete with the Iowa Caucus and New Hampshire primaries. The Democratic National Committee already stripped Michigan and Florida of all of their delegates to the convention as punishment.

But there are people in Michigan who wish to support their preference for either Barack Obama or John Edwards, so they are encouraging their supporters to write in "uncommitted." The only problem with that is that there will be no way to count how many uncommitteds are for Edwards, and how many are for Obama.

I have a feeling that there will be a huge turnout in Michigan and that the uncommitteds will outnumber the votes for Clinton, despite her loyalty to stay on the ballot there.
