Oh yes, it's my favorite time of the year...political endorsement time. I've seen some strange ones in my time. A few years back my liberal hometown newspaper endorsed draconian Congressman Steve King from Iowa's fifth district, then spent the entire year kicking itself in it's proverbial butt over and over.
The endorsement I read about yesterday probably takes the cake for the most unlikely and strangest of all time. Pat Robertson, the idiot-in-chief of the radical right endorsed Rudy Giuliani. I rubbed my eyes, thinking, that I must have read it wrong. It should have said, "Pat Robertson declares that Gotham came crumbling down on 911 because of the way that Rudy Giuliani is handling his three marriages and two divorces." Or, "Pat Robertson prays for Giuliani to mend his evil ways and repent to the Lord Jesus Christ."
It was neither. Robertson said that he's endorsing Giuliani because "he's proven time and time again that he's a social conservative." Hmmmm.... Was he a social conservative when he donated to Planned Parenthood, an organization that Robertson has condemned? Was it when Giuliani dressed in drag and kissed Donald Trump on national TV? Or when he allowed his second wife to find out that he was cheating on her and divorcing her from a reporter? Maybe it was when he was signing gun control agreements. There are just so much evidence of his social conservativism that I can't pick.
