There was a small and almost unnoticable piece in the Times today about "Laura Bushs' growing signifigance." HUH? The lady who once made her husband promise that she would never have to give a speech now has something to say?
I think Laura and Barbara Bush should go on a pro-choice media tour with young Barbara and Jenna. Mrs. Bush has been too behind the scenes and traditional during her husband's presidency to be taken seriously now.
While she is in the Middle East talking about breast cancer prevention, maybe she can find out why most of our allies there treat women like second-class citizens.
I chose this photo of Laura Bush for this post because, in many ways, Laura Bush has hidden herself from the world during GWB's tenure as president. At least she has the solace that in a year or so she can go back to Crawford and sweep the porch in her housecoat.
