This week, it's been fascinating to watch republicans all over the country make list after list of people who deserved the Nobel Peace Prize more than Al Gore. And they unwittingly make themselves look more stupid by pretending not to get the connection between climate change and world peace.
In what Paul Krugman calls "Gore Derangement Syndrome," he notes that the Wall Street Journal could not even bear to mention Al Gore's name in their pathetic attempt to deflect attention away from the very deserving winner.
The effects of climate change are global, so it requires a global solution. Conservatives see this reality as a huge threat. Americans have slowly come to realize how corporate titans have spoiled our environment here in the states. Now that we're getting most of our durable goods from China, the most polluted country in the world, we're messing up their evil plans to keep the machine humming without paying attention to the environmental cost.
Thanks to the global media and the 24-hour news cycle, the photos of green rivers and black skies in China are only a click or two away.
So if you're keeping score at home, it's conservatives 0, Al Gore 1000. At least.
