Fred Thompson is creating quite a bit of controvery among the Iowa Press corps by dodging their attempts to interview him. After his disasterous entree to the Iowa scene shortly after his announcement, Thompson has employed a new tactic: Simply giving the media "the slip" at events.
As Chase Martyn reports, both network reporters and bloggers were told that Thompson would be available after the Iowa Christian Alliance annual dinner in September. However, instead of keeping his word, Thompson slipped out while the dinner was still going on, nary a questions asked.
This latest development comes after Fred was allowed to blunder his way through a series of non-answers the week of his debut here in Iowa. I guess the solution now is to keep him under wraps until he gets the nomination...What's he going to do when he's forced to debate the democratic nominee, who by then will have been a two-year seasoned veteran of debates and interviews? I can't wait to see him fall on his ass.
