Sometimes I just need to stop and focus for a minute. With all of the destruction that we've caused in Iraq, it can be difficult or impossible to comprehend the level of despair that we've created for the people of Iraq. Innocent men, women and children, whose lived have been destroyed by an unwanted war. Make no mistake about it, the United States was not a welcome hero. The people of Iraq just wanted to work, raise their children and go about their business, like the rest of us.
When I read this article today, it made me ashamed. It discusses the growing refugee crisis in countries neighboring Iraq, in this case, Syria.
Iraqi refugees, now numbering in the millions, are not allowed to work in Syria. After their savings run out (mine would be out in months, if not weeks) how are they supposed to feed themselves? Not surprisingly, many women and young girls are forced into prostitution.
This war has created yet another huge crisis. Please, someone, make it stop.
