I can't say that I remember a time when I've been more disappointed in a candidate. Of all people, I know that Hillary Clinton knows her new "mandatory health care" plan is wrong. If we "mandate" health care coverage, that assumes that the only reason that people who do not have it are slackers. They must have just not "gotten around" to buying coverage. What utter bullshit.

There are two entirely concrete reasons that people do not take out health care insurance. The first is that they can't get it due to a pre-existing condition. The other is that it's too expensive. Clinton's plan does not seriously address either. Tax credits for health care coverage? That's like telling a poor person that you will reimburse them for all of their gas money at the end of the year. It's not going to work.

The bottom line for me is...people deserve univeral health care coverage because human beings need health care. Human beings cannot always control their health risk. Human beings have accidents and burst appendices, and complicated childbirth, and breast cancer. Human beings get in car wrecks, and have trees fall on their heads, and cut themselves. Apparently, some human beings also have erections that last longer than four hours, but I have never met one of them.

Why the hell don't people get this? Is it the insurance industry pressuring you, Hillary? What? What is it? Are scared that people won't like you if you stand up for univeral health care?

Don't be scared. Do the right thing.
