Yep, the rumors were true. Fred Thompson's campaign, more anticipated than the second coming of christ, has been the laughing stock of the republican primary season. The gaffes, coming at the rate of at least one per day, are being perpetrated mostly by ol' Fred himself, with a small sprinkling of campaign staff screw-ups to top it off.
As Politico points out:
•In South Carolina, a heavily Baptist state, he told reporters at his first campaign stop that he rarely goes to church: “I attend church when I’m in Tennessee. I’m in McLean [Va.] right now.”
•He told a woman at a South Carolina rally that he doesn’t plan to talk widely about his relationship with God on the campaign trail, according to Bloomberg news service.
•In Greenville, S.C., when asked if bin Laden should be immediately killed after his capture, he said: "No, no, no. We’ve got due process to go through.” In trying to fix that, his campaign told Politico that first the government should get as much information as possible, and told AP that he meant “the same rules ought to apply to him as to everyone at Guantanamo Bay.”
•In Florida, where the Terri Schiavo feeding-tube case was a cause celebre two years ago, Thompson told the Tampa area’s Bay News 9 that he couldn’t pass judgment and added: “That’s going back in history. I don’t remember the details of it.”
This guy supposedly has solid radical right credentials...I don't see any evidence of that. I don't even sense the presence of a brain. Even though President Bush tried to prove it false, I'm nearly sure that you need a brain to be president.

Oh Claire, the so called gaffes are in the eyes of the beholder, you. Those are not gaffes. A gaffe is when you are Hillary Clinton and you think you are going to be President. A gaffe is when you vote to fund a war and then when it is not popular you claim you were fooled. Well if that is the best you can do in investigation of a serious vote, how can we trust you as president? A gaffe is when you design a national insurance program and it falls on it's donkey and you make an excuse then do it again while running for President. A gaffe is when you want your cheating husband on the team but give him a roaming job at the expense of the taxpayer so he can chase skirts out of sight and you won't need to play host to him as a wife.
Oh Claire, you are smarter than that.Fred tells it like it is. Since when is the truth a gaffe?
