Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) has been inviting the 21st Century Forum (a group of young democrats to which I belong) to Washington D.C. for 14 years. This is my third trip. He never fails to disappoint us with a fabulous array of people to meet and places to go. Yesterday was no exception. We met with Senator Obama in his private senate office, Senator Claire McGaskill (D-MO) and Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY). Later, we all went to dinner with Senator and Mrs. Ruth Harkin and two of our democratic congressman showed up. The last photo I have posted is of Congressman Bruce Braley and Congressman Dave Loebsack. They both unseated two stubborn incumbents in the 2006 election.
I got really lucky as Senator Harkin sat right across from me at dinner and drew me a map of Slovenia. I had no idea it shared a border with Italy! We are touring the Slovenian embassy today and meeting the ambassador.
I also really enjoyed meeting and talking to our new congressmen. They are both wonderful, bright and engaging individuals.
I am sitting in my hotel getting ready for another tour-packed day, including a meeting with Senator Clinton in her D.C. senate office.

Do you really mean to "He never fails to disappoint us"? You don't sound disappointed in what follows -- perhaps he failed this year.
