Lady Bird Johnson, born Claudia Alta Taylor and given her nickname by a baby nurse who proclaimed her as pretty as a "lady bird" died today.

I think of her everytime I drive down one of our nation's uncluttered interstate highways or visit Washington D.C., that wisely banned billboards and large signage years ago. It adds to the experience. Thank you, Lady Bird. Tell Eleanor and Jackie hi for us.
