Later this week, I am headed to Washington D.C. to visit my old friend Senator Harkin. More on that later. Check back later in the week, I hope to have some photos from my trip and possibly even an interview with him.
I hope to be able to visit Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello, during my stay. I went browsing on the Monticello Web site and WOW! was I impressed. There is an extensive amount of information on Jefferson the man and on his famous retreat.
I couldn't help but wonder if people would have this kind of enduring interest in George W. Bush's lifestyle more than 200 years after his death. I wonder what kind of displays there might be someday in the George W. Bush Crawford Ranch Retreat memorial.
There might be his trusty chain saw, perhaps an old pair of boots and a couple of hats. There would be his memoirs, for sure, probably written by a ghostwriter in Vice President Dick Cheney's office. After all, Dick has been pulling George's strings this long. Why stop after he leaves office?
I think his legacy will be one of lies and stupity, just like his presidency. Thomas Jefferson would not have been impressed.
