My name is Claire Celsi and I'm The Demo Memo's new author. I live in beautiful Des Moines, Iowa. In case you haven't noticed, Iowa is the center of the political universe once every four years, when we host the Iowa Caucuses
, the first-in-the nation contest to determine the nominees for president from both parties.
I've been writing and commenting about politics my entire adult life. Before the Internet and blogs came into being, it was through letters to the editor. Living in such a politically aware state has formed me. I pay attention to politics because I believe it is the most interesting and influential form of public discourse available in any society. In most cases, showing up is all you need to do. Showing up puts you ahead of most Americans, who don't pay attention until the last moment.
I hope you show up here every day to find out about issues that you should pay attention to. I hope to hear back from my readers to get new ideas and insights. Together we can create a community, start and conversation, and most importantly, make a positive contribution to the national dialogue.
