President George W. Bush is an unforgivable idiot. After reading a great rant on Daily Kos by Quaoar, I got even madder than I was yesterday when I read about him vetoing the stem cell bill.
One of his quotes, which I heard on the radio on the way home, made my jaws start to clench.
“Destroying human life in the hopes of saving human life is not ethical,” Mr. Bush said during a brief ceremony in the East Room of the White House. He called America “a nation founded on the principle that all human life is sacred.”
Is he kidding? Has he ever heard of the Iraq war? That would translate into,"It's not worth killing any of our soldiers to save our country." It seems that Bush has a double standard as to the lives that are worth saving and the ones that aren't.
So logically...follow me here for a minute...that would mean embryos frozen in a fertility clinic are more sacred lives than the soldiers and civilians dying in Iraq.
I completely and totally disagree. To me, the lives of the living have to take precedence. The lives that could be improved, the lives that could be saved. The quality of life that could be attained.
I do believe that embryos are potential life, but the fact is, they are wasted potential life if they are thrown away. Why on earth is it ok to throw them away, and it's not ok to use them to potentially save another life?
Bush needs a brain transplant. I think there is a scientist in Europe working on that right now.
