President Bush is getting bounced check notices from his "political capital" bank account. The stunning defeat of his immigration bill and the migration of senators on the Iraq surge issue is hard evidence that it's official Lame Duck time for Bush. Republican elected officials from all around the country will be playing "Dodge Bush" during the upcoming primary and election cycle, trying their best to not have their photo taken next to him. And I'm sure they're afraid of what almost certainly will be the result: a democratic landslide in both houses of congress. After the supreme court's slaughter of Brown vs. Board of Education this week, it is strikingly clear that Bush's scary legacy will linger long after he goes back to Texas to chop down trees on his ranch. Bush certainly can't use the ATM for his political transactions anymore, but maybe he can borrow some Halliburton cash from Dick Cheney.
